We have been talking about keeping warm outside. We have been doing lots of running/keeping moving. The children know to where hats, gloves, scarf and a coat to keep themselves warm.
The children had lots of fun breaking the ice on the pond so the bugs could breathe. The children fed the birds because the ground was too hard and they couldn't get to any worms. In Yoga we did the Billy Goats Gruff - get your child to show you their Angry Troll Face! We have been using our listening ears to the ryhme to find which number is hiding and where can it be. We have also been acting out Handa's Surprise. We used makaton and props but not the book. The children loved this. We had a cake sale on Thursday. A huge thank you to those parents who donated cakes and came along to support the sale. The children really enjoyed setting up for the sale and then taking orders and serving cakes. If only all waiters and waitressess were as enthusiastic! It was very successful and we raised over £80. Today was our Mad Hair day and we also had a visit from a Support & Training Against Racism representative. The children made a Lassi yoghurt drink with honey, nutmeg and mango. It is a drink from India. The children counted in different languages during the making of this drink including Spanish, French and Bengali! There was an African song and dance and the children loved trying different clothers around the world. We had lots of discussions about "All kinds of bodies" - it is a story about differences.
