Weekly Makaton Signs - Hello, Good and Thank you.
Monday Yoga, curling, being tall and being small. How can we make ourselves tall, how can we make ourselves small? We played our favorite game of fish chips and peas to practice our listening skills and we had to listen very carefully to the adult who kept trying to trick us.
We have had the sand tray out this week and after being inside the sand has become very dry, we discovered that we can pour the sand and sprinkle it through our fingers but we couldn’t make sandcastles. We then worked out that if we added water to the sand then we could make our sandcastles again, hooray.
Mr freeze visited this week and turned all the water in the garden into ice, we had lots of different size ice cubes which we had great fun smashing onto the floor to break, we all made sure we had hats and gloves on to keep warm as Mr freeze stayed for a long time trying to make our fingers and toes cold, luckily we had just enough spare gloves to keep us all warm.
Lots of show & tell this week, which helps us to remember to take turns during conversation as its tricky to talk and listen at the same time, we are encouraging children to choose just one item to show & tell so that we all get a turn, parents can support us with this by encouraging your child to only bring one item. We have also been discussing about our younger children not understanding about toys brought in from home & that if children leave their show & tell on the floor then a younger child may pick it up, we have been learning to be patient and not snatch it back & that if we don’t want younger children to play with it then it is better kept in the show and tell box.
We were all wrapped up warm this week & even had to take our coats off after lunch. We had lots of fun rolling tyres and seeing who could get theirs the furthest, we remembered to work as a team and found the tyres weren’t that heavy to carry if we shared the weight with our friends. We had brilliant fun making swings with the tyres, swinging and spinning around and around. We had some toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate….yummy!
We will be celebrating Chinese New Year shortly, and plan to have a banquet to which you will all be invited to come and share. This will take place on Wednesday 10th February times to follow. A donation list for food will be going up this week so please keep a look out for it.
