It's been a busy couple of weeks as we head towards the end of term. Last week we had our trip to Avon Valley - a very good turn out and a lovely day out for the children! We had a great time playing and enjoying the animals, and we all went for a ride on the little steam train.
Last week we had fun with a 'travel' theme including packing suitcases to go on holiday, running a travel agency and building our own aeroplanes out of cardboard boxes.
This week we've had a cute little puppy in to visit. We've also been decorating plates for the flower show. On Friday we'll be holding a Sports Day, so we've made some medals to give out.
We are always looking for new committee members. With a couple of the current members moving on we will be looking for some replacements. We meet once a term to help to decide how your preschool should be run. There is a form to fill out to send in to Ofsted but apart from that it's not too time consuming being on the committee. The main officer posts of Chair and Treasurer are filled, but we are looking for a new Secretary to take minutes of our meetings.
Next year we will be changing the emphasis of the fund raising sub committee slightly, and re-naming it a 'Celebrations Committee'. Now that we receive government funding, there is less need for us to raise so much extra money. The focus of the 'Celebrations Committee' will be on hosting parties and events for the children, with any funds raised a fortunate side effect.
A huge 'thank you' to those who have raised funds for us this year. With the extra money we have been able to buy some new resources, fund the coach and entrance costs for our trip, and maintain our high ratio of staff to children.
We hope you all have a lovely summer. All the very best of luck to those moving on to school and we look forward to seeing everyone else back at preschool in September. And finally, a huge 'thank you' to our dedicated team of staff, who work so hard to help all the children learn, develop and have fun.
