We are still practising our Makaton signs for Good Girl, Good Boy and Hello. There is lots more Makaton signing taking place during our snack time.
We always like to try and introduce new experiences - instead of eating Baked Beans - let's play with them. Pour them, squidge them, even write and draw squiggles in them. Some were happy to use their hands, others preferred to have some spoons - but then became familiar with them and started squidging as well - yeah what fun. Now who wants baked beans for tea? More painting this week and lots more mixing colours. This does promote good muscle control within the hands and arms which is all good preparation for when writing takes place. The weather has been tricky this week, but we always try and take advantage of what ever life throws at us. Painting puddles, lots of splashing and even some shadow making - yes the sun did make an appearance this week. On Wednesday, due to no heating - parents were given the option of taking children home or staying for a shorter session. We played lots of games to keep warm, including parachute, stuck in the mud and musical statues. Due to no heating we were closed on Thursday and Friday.
