We are still learning Thank you, Hello and Good bye in Makaton signs.

We’ve had lots of stories to tell about our holidays – some have been on aeroplanes, some on ferries, and lots of hunting down Shaun the Sheep.  Some familiar faces are back and lots of new ones too.  Welcome back everyone.

Show ‘n’ Tell –This is a chance to bring in something from home, maybe a favourite toy or a photograph or any object that they wish to show the others in a small group and tell us something about it.  The item can be placed in the blue Show ‘n’ Tell box in the morning and once we have done Show ‘n’ Tell the item is then placed either in their own draw or back in the blue Show ‘n’ Tell box.  The item is not played with during the session.  We may not always get a chance to do Show ‘n’ Tell every day, but we try to.

Playdough – a familiar item but oh you can do so much with it, roll it, squeeze it, hit it, make it into cakes, pancakes, worms, create patterns, smell it, share it out, take turns in using the cutters and so much to talk about with it and just the familiarity of it helps you to settle into Preschool.  Who knew so much could be gained from playdough.

WOWs – what are WOWs?  WOWs can be written for anything that you think “WOW – well done” – this could be for sleeping in their own bed all night, for putting on their own coat, helping to tidy up – literally anything at all.  The WOW labels are then pinned to our WOW board and at snack time we read them out to the other children and altogether clap and say well done.  These are then stuck in their own special book all about them.  If you need any WOW labels please ask and if you could just put a date on them too, that would be fantastic.  We love hearing about all the clever things you do and achieve away from preschool.

Thursday – we had our outdoor session.  We introduced all the new children to our listening circle and our Gold Rules for staying safe and checked to see if some of our familiar faces would remember.  We then explored our area.  We had snacks, stories, created pictures using mud and sticks.  We created a space ship from our den and you would not believe what fund you can have from grass.
