We are continuing to practise Thank you, Please and the Children's Names in Makaton signs.
In Yoga this week we did The Princess and the Pea. We've all been invited to a party, so we need to make some sandwiches and cakes. What can we put in sandwiches? Remember to stir that cake, slowly and then super whizzy fast. There was lots of actions and movement by the children and as always we started with our Fish, Chips and Peas game. We enjoyed the paints and large paper outside. We had fun flicking and splashing and some of us liked getting covered in paint! The sand tray has been very popular with lots of children exploring the different texture. On Wednesday afternoon we practised our team games. We also had another successful café which was held on Wednesday morning. This time we also had a bring and buy table. This raised over £100 which will go towards our end of year trip. Thank you. We closed for polling on Thursday and ended the term on Friday with lots of music and games.

We are still learning Makaton Thank You and Good/Well Done. Please get your child to show you them at home.
In Yoga this week we had The Hungry Caterpillar. The children listened well to the story and enjoyed doing all the actions. The children finished with some familiar games - Traffic Lights and Follow My Leader. Water play was hugely popular this week with the sun shining. The children had drainpipes at different levels and poured water down them to make the boats float. The next day the children really enjoyed having the sea life animals in the water. We had squids, Octopus, Crabs, Whales, Rays, Turtles and many more. The children have also been enjoying some large collaborative art. Inside the children used felt pens to create a beautiful picture which is on display near our milk and water board. Please take a look. Outside the children made a large picture using paints, stamps, rollers and even flicking paint. They had to think of how to get the paint in the middle of the picture once they had painted around the edge first! They came up with some good ideas. On Thursday afternoon we walked to our outdoor area. We counted how many butterflys we could see with the help of our Dad helper. We helped to cut the grass but our scissors were small and it was a big job! One child planted a bean and took it home to see if he could grow a beanstalk. No time for games this week, we were so busy exploring and ran out of time! We are still continuing to learn the Makaton signs for Good, Thank you and we are still getting the children to sign their own name. We are learning a new story. Rabit Foo Foo has been put aside for us to now learn Come on Daisy. We have been learning the song 5 little ducks all with Makaton signs. Ask your child if they can show you. Its been another short week this week, so no Yoga, but what a lovely weekend followed by a wet , wet week - one day sun hats and sun cream followed by coats and wellies. Lots of puddles to splash in - just need those wellies to keep on having fun. We've had lots of chances this week to discuss how things are going and to see what your children have been doing whilst at preschool. On Thursday afternoon we went for a walk to the allotments. We found lots of different smells to go in our bags, did Mums and Dads know them all? Mint, lemon balm, chives, and borrage. Again we had lots of fun splashing in puddles just like mucky ducks in the story. We are now doing "Good" and "Thank you" in Makaton signs. If you wish to know more, please see a member of staff or our display board. We have also been showing the children how to sign their own name in Makaton signs. Ask them to show you their name and see if they can remember.
In yoga this week we learnt how to be a frog. What do we need to do? Long back legs to jump. How high can you jump? How many jumps can you do? What do frogs eat? Pasta, chocolate and crisps!!! How do frogs eat? With their long tongue that flicks out, come on lets try. We had some very energetic frogs! ZooLab came for a visit with Rosie the Tarantula, Hermoine the Hermit Crab, Casper the Snake, Turbo the Large Snail, Cedric the Stick Insect and Snow White the White Rat. Some we could hold, some just touch, some just to look at. We had some very brave children who were holding and touching these lovely creatures. We then all tried to see if we could move like the creatures. How can we move like a snake or a crab???? We've done lots of playing outside, making the most of the nice weather. Remember its hats and sun cream time. On Thursday afternoon, we walked to our outdoor area. We had to hunt for numbers and played the game "What's the Time Mr Wolf". We talked to our new children about how we stay safe on our outdoor sessions. |
