We have a new Volunteer helping us in our setting. She is on placement as part of her Cache Level 2 Diploma in Childcare at Norton Radstock.
For our yoga this week we had the Christmas Mouse story. There were new yoga moves to learn and the children showed good memories and demonstrated the new moves to their friends. We have been busy rehearsing our nativity and the children are really excited. There has been lots of busy craft making so be prepared for some lovely surprises coming home. The children have been busy in the kitchen and as some were not keen on the mince pies, they decided to make some jam tarts - yum yum. At circle time, the children have been taking turns to choose a chocolate from the advent calendar and then they got a chance to choose a friend to sit inthe sleigh with them. On Wednesday afternoon we practiced our party games for our Christmas Party. We played musical bumps, musical statues and we also had a go at pass the parcel. The children were very good at all these games. We had the lego construction vehicles out and they proved to be a real hit. The children loved bulldozing the lego with the vehicles and enjoyed the sounds it made too! On Thursday afternoon, we got dressed up for the wet weather in our gear and splashed about in the rain. We had a lovely splashing walk around the village. Merry Christmas from your Pre School Team

This week, the children have been doing their yoga to the Princess and the Pea story.
We have been continuing our Christmas theme with lovely "surprise" crafts which are thoroughly evolving! We had an obstacle course which the children really enjoyed. They loveD the challenge of going over, under, balancing and going through various items. This was all done after a talk about safe risk taking. The children helped bake some mince pies and they have been most welcome at snack times and for home time. We have been practicing our christmas nativity (Friday 21st) - so please keep this date free. In the garden, the children had to find 10 starts with numbers on them. The children enjoyed find them and were very good at recognising the numbers on them. For Thursday afternoon, we walked to the church. We sang some Christmas carols in the choir stands - pretending to be the choir. We then went to look at the cow and talked about which were boy cows and which ones were girls ones. One child told us "they are all girls and that ones a boy". An adult asked how they knew this and was told "because they've got long eyelashes". In our Yoga session this week we did the Little Red Riding Hood story - we had lots of fun and stretching. For our Fish, Chips and Peas game, we changed our Fish, Chips & Peas game to Turkey, Sprouts and Roast Potatoes. The children loved racing about to the new names.
Our easel was popular this week, with the children doing lots of painting. We had a Spanish Day on Wednesday, this was following on from lots of childrens recent holidays there. We had Tapas cooked with the children by a dad. A pinata with lots of goodies inside. The children enjoyed learning some spanish words and phrases. We concentrated on more Christmas craft surprises - so no peaking when you pick your child up. We have been rehearsing our nativity play and learning new Christmas songs and rhymes. We started to open our advent calenter - you may find chocolates in the children's drawers. Everyone will get a change and if its their day, they will get to sit in the newly decorated sleigh on the stage. |
