Wow - what fun we have had this week. We've done lots of drizzling glue pictures which we quickly covered with glitter to look like frosty spider webs hanging around. There were lots of good steady hands and some children even wrote their names with the glue!
Our story for Yoga this week was Edward and the Dragon. We needed to make some soup and pizza for the journey. Now - what can we put into our soup or on top of our pizza? Pumpkin, chocolate, pasta, red sauce, Oh and more chocolate! We met a wizard who helped us to slay the dragon - good work everyone! We had a lovely game of "Mixed up Shoe". Everyone took off their shoes and then mixed them up. We then had to listen as a shoe was described, the colour, how they do up (laces. zips, slip on) and then we had to decide who they belonged to. We then had to put them on to make sure we had a matching pair and they were on the correct foot! Oh no - the arctic animals are stuck - stuck in the ice!! How can we get them out? The children came up with very inventive ways of trying to get the ice off and get the animals out. We had tipping, banging and dropping! We finally managed to get them out. What great team work. On Thursday afternoon we went for a walk to our outdoor area. We were excited to see that the birds had eaten our cereals from the feeders. The ricky witch had hidden our sparkly numbers but we found them all. We also had a lovely game of Stick, Stick, Polar Bear, this is our outdoor version of Duck Duck Goose.

Our story this week for yoga was The Princess and the Pea. We learnt lots of new moves. We had to walk and travel along - oh! and that Pea was really uncomfortable, especially when we were lying down - we therefore wriggled quite a lot.
We made some lovely shakers which we decorated. We poured peas, pasta and rice inside them and gave them a good old shake. We loved creating our own patterns of sound with the shakers. Everyone followed and there was plenty of good listening skills - especially to the different ways we could shake our shakers. Outside there was lots of riding the scooters up ramps. The children showed good balancing skills and decided to rearrange the ramps to suit their own individual needs. There was excellent communication between each other and some fantastic team work. The children then continued the ramp theme these inside and out with the tractors, and trailers. There were lots of whizzing down and even the animals had a turn - wheeeee and whoosh!!! Enlivening stories - this is where we read a story several times from the book. We then provide props for the children to re-tell the story themselves. We have been doing the story "Whatever Next" is where a bear visits space in his cardboard box, but back in time for his night time bath!! Welcome back. We hope you had a lovely break. We heard that some of you had holidays in Cornwall & Devon and some went to soft plays. What fun you all had.
For Yoga this week we were Bangers, Whizzers and Catherine Wheel fireworks. We used chiffon scarves and were throwing them in the air. We talked about colours and counting whilst waiting for them to go off. The children elped us to make a Guy for the bonfire at the "Druids". The children came up with the name "Bernie". We then went for a walk to the Druids to put the guy on the fire ready for later. Lots of splashing in the puddles on the way. We talked about staying safe with fireworks and the fire and animal staying safe too! We made some lovely firework pictures with chalk on black paper - there was lots of talking about the colours and noises each firework made. |
