Our Yoga this week was an Easter story. The children learnt new moves and really enjoyed showing each other the moves they had recently learned.
The sand was really popular outside and lots of fun was had by the children filling various containers to full, ½full, ½empty etc. The children also had a huge amount of fun looking after our soft toy pets. We had the children visiting the vets to get their animals treated. The children were taking great care of them. We will continue this after the Easter break with the topic "About Pets". We will therefore be asking everyone to bring in pictures of their own pets. On Thursday afternoon we went for a spring walk. It was very wet and windy. We spotted some spring flowers; Primrose, Daffodil & Crocus. We found a very big branch and brought it back to Preschool for our garden.

We have been talking about keeping warm outside. We have been doing lots of running/keeping moving. The children know to where hats, gloves, scarf and a coat to keep themselves warm.
The children had lots of fun breaking the ice on the pond so the bugs could breathe. The children fed the birds because the ground was too hard and they couldn't get to any worms. In Yoga we did the Billy Goats Gruff - get your child to show you their Angry Troll Face! We have been using our listening ears to the ryhme to find which number is hiding and where can it be. We have also been acting out Handa's Surprise. We used makaton and props but not the book. The children loved this. We had a cake sale on Thursday. A huge thank you to those parents who donated cakes and came along to support the sale. The children really enjoyed setting up for the sale and then taking orders and serving cakes. If only all waiters and waitressess were as enthusiastic! It was very successful and we raised over £80. Today was our Mad Hair day and we also had a visit from a Support & Training Against Racism representative. The children made a Lassi yoghurt drink with honey, nutmeg and mango. It is a drink from India. The children counted in different languages during the making of this drink including Spanish, French and Bengali! There was an African song and dance and the children loved trying different clothers around the world. We had lots of discussions about "All kinds of bodies" - it is a story about differences. Our Yoga story this week was the 3 Little Pigs. The children really enjoyed re-telling and acting out this story and they even showed us their moves with a partner.
We are still learning Handa's Surprise and acting out the story. We have added to the story by making a large sandpit with wild animals. We are having lots of talks about Africa. There is a large craft area for junk modelling and making paper mache planets. Thanks to Vic Spicer for kwlping with this. We have lots of babies which need looking after and the children have beenbusy feeding them and changing their nappies. On Thursday afternoon we walked to the allotment. Along the way we thought of new words to add to our "Stay in Line" song. We made marks in the mud using sticks and mixed up some muddy mixtures. We have had a large sand pit outside and the children have enjoyed climbing in with the wid animals. Later in the week we used the sand as a building area with the tractors and diggers.
We are continuing the space theme and transforming the shed into outer space. On Monday we had our Chinese Banquet. Parents joined in our yoga session of the Chinese New Year story. The children then did a snake dance and sang the New Year song. We all enjoyed various chinese food which was kindly provided by parents and the stir fry made by the children. The children also took home red envelopes they had decorated.
