We are still continuing to learn Hello, Good and Thank You in Makaton signs.
For Yoga we had the Billy Goat Gruff story. We had lots of moves - Mountain, Fresh Green Grass, Troll Bridge. Ask your child to show you their moves. At the end of Yoga we had lots of fun playing our traffic lights game. We had a magic carpet - we had to go careful as it was a bit wobbly, mind you don't fall off, got to hold on tight. Where shall we go? What shall we see? Looking out for tractors - what colour are they? How many? Where are they going? Are they big or small? Do you know their name? Is it John Deere, or Massey Feguson? How many can we count? On Wednesday afternoon we joined Stanton Drew School for their harvest festival in the local church. We listened to the children sing their songs and do some poems. We sat really well and enjoyed ourselves. On Thursday afternoon we walked to our outdoor area and found a great trail for an adventure. We had to be careful where we stood and had to crouch down low. We found a dark tunnel to climb through and also a secret gate! It was so exciting and we can't wait to show the others next time. Have a great half term everyone.

We are still continuing to learn Hello, Thank You and Good in Makaton signs.
For Yoga this week we went to the fair. We travelled by Boat, Train and Hot Air Balloon. When we got to the fair, we went on the Tea Cups - starting off slow and then super fast. Then onto the Roller Coaster and Oh No the Ghost Train - agh!!!!! Then back home again by Boat, Train and Hot Air Balloon. Wow - what fun. It's good to see everyone listening hard and having a go. Well done everyone. Its raining and pouring - boots on splashing - yeah. Come on, let's jump in, how big a splash can you make? The climbing frame was turned into a castle and the Princess's were having a sleepover. They had to go shopping at Tesco first for some snacks and then they had to sort out where everyone was going to sleep. Don't forget everyone needs a teddy. Lots of creativity with the clever sticks - making suns with lots of rays, a bunch of keys, a diamond ring and a car with a swing - and a necklace. Many more treasure boxes have been made again this week, with lots of snipping, sticking, creating and decisions as to who it was for and what was going to be put inside. As some of the children are getting older and ready for school, the names on their drinks label will change. You will notice that they do not have a picture on them anymore. This is so the children begin to recognise their own names and not the sticker that was on it. Please can you encourage the children to find their own drinks name in the mornings - thank you. On Thursday afternoon, we went to our Outdoor Area and made toys for the birds in the tree, swings of all shapes using threading sticks and string. We also made some lovely bug houses. At the end we played our game 1, 2, 3 Where Are You? We are still learning Hello, Thank you and Good in Makaton signs.
In Yoga this week we had The Princess and the Pea. We had to make some sandwiches and cakes. There was lots of fun ideas for the sandwiches and we had some very fast food mixers. Let's make the bed, higher and higher. How can we get in? We need to climb! Finally, time for sleep. Let's read a book before bed. Lights out! After a nice long sleep time for a party - yeah!!! We have been making lots of tracks in the playdough - squiggly, zig zag and wavey. What other tracks or things could we use to make track marks? We've also been very busy making treasure boxes. The children have enjoyed sticking, cutting and creating magical boxes. Decisions were made on who the boxes were for, mummies, others were for brothers and some just for themselves. What magical things can we keep safe inside? Lots of talk and discussion as to what things they would keep inside and what things are special to them. We had an obstacle course outside - the children have been enjoying jumping off and landing. Some have really pushed themselves and got higher or jumped further. Some even had a go after watching the others doing it - what fun! On Thursday afternoon we walked to the orchard and picked some apples ready to make crumbles. We explored our outdoor area and then played Rabbit, Rabbit, Fox. We were going to play a game with apples but the tricky witch had taken them and hid them. Luckily we were very good using our looking eyes and found them all. We finished with our 1, 2,3 Where Are You game but took a while to find Lynne who was hiding up a tree! We are still learning the Makaton signs for Thank You, Good and Hello. Get your child to show you at home.
For Yoga we had the Brave Knight who saved all the people trapped in the castle from the bad dragon. The people were locked up so the knight tricked the dragon away from the castle and to a cave, where he became trapped and the people were saved. Lots of fire breathing dragons and brave knights - and lets end off with a party. We need to make sandwiches and mix cakes, first slow and then super fast. Lots of sharing of stories and books - getting together in the tepee, picking books and sharing of stories. The children were making up their own stories from the pictures and some of the stories were from memory. Very good story tellers. We have been enjoying the lego and creating cages to keep the dinosaurs in. Good imagination and lots of talk about how to create, what to create, what to use, will this work, try this and let me help. Skittles - learning how best to use the ball to knock down the most skittles, rolling, bouncing, throwing up high, down low and kicking. Understanding about waiting your turn and helping to put the skittles back up. Great team work. On Thursday afternoon we went on a conker hunt. We hunted everywhere and ended up at the Stone Circles. The children have fun around the stones whilst learning about their history. |
