For yoga this week we made shapes with our bodies, which decorations can you be? A rag doll, orange ribbon, crab apples, cat's collar for the lights. There was lots of stretching and bending - oh don't forget the singing of our Christmas songs.
The children have been busy finishing their surprise Christmas crafts. The children have loved doing these. We have done some sensory craft to bring home this year which the children all done independently, choosing their materials and making their own creations. We tried to involve most senses, touch, smell, and sight - hope you enjoy them! We have been very busy practising our nativity and we have managed a dress rehearsal and performed in front of Stanton Drew Primary school. The children really enjoyed this practice and interacted very well with the older children and teachers. We were really proud of them all. Some children showed an interest in throwing and catching the soft ball so we set up a plastic box as a target and the children practiced throwing to get the ball into the box. The children encouraged each other when it wasn't their turn and showed delight when another child scored a goal. Excellent team work - well done. On Thursday afternoon, we enjoyed a party in our outside area. We had a fire in our new fire pit and talked about staying safe near fire. We then warmed some juice on the fire and enjoyed some Christmas chocolates after having a hunt for them. We then played some party games which all the children and staff really enjoyed. We hope you all had fun at our nativity. The children were amazing, they performed brilliantly and it was surprising to see the confidence in such young children to stand on a stage in front of an audience. A big thank you to all that attended. We had lots of fun at the after party with plenty of food and games organised by Kelly.

Our Yoga story this week was moving homes. The children learned moves for mountain, forest, boat and lots more. The children decided how they were going to travel and who with and what they would like to eat. The children had to consider no ovens and they could only eat what could be caught from the lake and forest - the children had some great ideas.
Our Xmas "surprise" crafts are underway. The children are really enjoying these and are being very creative. These will be coming home at the end of this term. The children have been very busy practising their songs for our nativity. Parts are being decided soon. Listen out for the children singing these when they are home. We have lots of sharing games - big groups and outside play. We've had some great ideas of play from the children - Wizards and Evil Witches, being chased by the crocodile - quick lets get out of the way. On Thursday afternoon, the children collected materials for a "surprise" Christmas craft. They've been learning to stay safe when we are outside - ask them our golden rules for our Outdoor Session. In Yoga this week we had The Princess and the Frog. We needed to throw the ball real high and catch it - but Oh No! It's landed in the pond! The frog helped get it back, but not before the Princess promised to feed him, give him a bed to sleep on and a kiss! There was lots of jumping and moving around and everyone took part and was happy at the end, to show off their new moves which they had learnt.
Christmas is coming! The hall is decorated and Santa's Sleigh is out, who will ride it today? Every child gets to see what's inside the advent calendar for the day and then to sit in the sleigh during session or at story time if they wish to. We have lots of lovely Christmas books for you to read with your child. Please feel free to browse through and choose one to take home and share. Please remember to bring them back when you have finished with them so someone else can read them. We are doing lots of Christmas activities including new rhymes and to learn - all in the spirit of Christmas. The children have been very, very busy this week doing lots of beautiful paintings. They did so much we nearly ran out of paint! We didn't realise we had so many wonderful artists in our midst - perhaps a new Picasso in the making!
We've had lots of chats about Jack Frost and how now it is colder , the leaves are off the trees. We need to wrap up warm! Our pond was frozen - what shall we do!!! We also talked about the need to put food out for the birds because the ground was hard and they couldn't dig for worms. On Thursday afternoon we went to our Outdoor Area and found that the birds had eaten all the food - again!! We had lots of fun making piles of leaves and then throwing them up in the air. Our numbers kept disappearing again - we think the Tricky Witch had some helpers!!!!! We got out the crayons out again and made some wonderful pictures with our leaf patterns. |
