We are still doing Hello, Thank you and the Children's Names in Makaton Signs. We have also started doing signs for fruit as we have more varied fruits from our new fruit supplier. In Yoga we had The 3 Little Pigs. On our way to pick up straw, sticks and bricks, we cycled, took a train and took the car. Houses were built and then each one had a visitor. Mr Wolf who huffed and puffed - finally ended up in the brick house. Mr Wolf slid down the chimney but landed in a hot pot! He promised to be very good, so they all ate the stew together. The children have been enjoying digging through dirt - digging it up and transporting it to another place, but not onto the floor, or we can not sweep it back in. Let's put it in something else, but what happens when that is full? We need to tip it back, but its too heavy, what can we do? Let's do it together - teamwork. We can do so much more when we work together. Some school visits have begun for some of our older children. Having story time with their soon to be new teachers and friends. On Thursday afternoon we had a picnic lunch outdoors. The children had fun collecting different leaves and emptying snail shells. They also done some problem solving as a child's toy kept getting stuck up a tree and the children had to think of ways to get it down.

We are still practicing Hello, Thank you and the Children's Names in Makaton signs. Get them to show you at home. There was no yoga this week, but there has been lots of other things to do. We have been practicing for our Sports Day. Having a go at the Teddy Relay and learning about being in a team. We've also learnt a lot about cheering on our team mates. We went on a coach, this was one of the children's Show & Tell - what my dad does. Wow!! We went on the coach all the way to the lakes. What could we see from the coach windows? "I Spy" cows, sheep, tractors, where I play tennis! At the picnic area, we had a great space to just run around and explore. We then played "Hide & Seek and Please Mr Crocodile". We also hunted pine cones, and played Teddy Relays. Wow - we need a break. Let's go and wash our hands and have some snacks. Some more running around and then back on the coach to Preschool. Who can spot Preschool first? What an excellent Show & Tell. We had another mum come in to tell us all about her job. A proof reader of books, This entails making sure words are spelt correctly, that what is said is true, continuity throughout and learning how to be a spy! Some lovely books to read and share. Good storytelling. Thank you mum. Anyone else wishing to come in and share, please do. The children love to learn and share new things, especially with other adults other than just us! On Thursday afternoon we went to the allotments first to see what was growing - lots of strawberries. Are they ready to eat? The red ones are but not the others, and lots of pretty marigolds. We all then went to the orchard, the trees created some shade for us as it was such a warm day. A story was read to us and we then had to think of a way to move from one area to another which was surrounded by water. Lots of creative thinking. We could use a hot air balloon, wings, maybe if we were fairies. How about a bridge and finally keeping it simple a boat! Then for the walk back to preschool - thirsty work. Outside carrying on from the bridge theme, we needed to create a bridge. It needed to be wide enough to fit a scooter and tall enough to fit a person through. What can we use? Is it tall enough? Wide enough? Is it steady? Lots of thinking and maths involved, counting how many we have, how many more do we need, how many did we use. Good teamwork guys - well done. See what we can achieve when working together. Thank you to Kat who helped us out on Friday. It was a full pack away for a party. Very much appreciated. A bit of help goes a long way. For Yoga this week we had the story of The Ugly Duckling and how it turned into a beautiful swan. Let's look into the water and what can we see? Frogs, fish, snails, weeds and me! Let's see how we swim. How do frogs move? How do fish move? Now show me how you move. Flap your little duck wings, now move those graceful wings. Lots of good ideas from the children and great moves - very imaginative.
Outside the children have been making the most of the lovely weather. Splashing around in the paddling pool and having a pool party with lots of games. We played musical statues which was good, although we decided musical bumps was not such a good idea. We've had lots of walking the plank and big jumps at the end - landing onto something very soft. Very brave. On Thursday afternoon we went out early to our outdoor area and enjoyed a relaxing lunch in the sunshine. We were then very busy making grass snakes, cutting stinging nettles and collecting things into bags. We learnt about stinging nettles, with lots of us getting stings and we talked about how to avoid more stings. We played Stuck in the Mud and Mr Crocodile before heading back to preschool. We are still continuing the Makaton signs for Thankyou Hello and the children's names.
In Yoga this week we went to the fairground for an adventure. We went on the Tea Cups, slow, slow, 1, 2, 3 wheee. Next Space Mountain up, up , up and wheeee down, down, down. Oh no, the Ghost Train and under the Tickling Tunnel. Back home in time for tea. Lots of holidays to Wales, Cornwall and trips to London and camping and more birthdays were had in the holidays. The children really enjoyed telling us about their travels. The children began making some fathers day craft surprises. The children haven been very creative with free choice of craft to make their very own father day cards. All children have done so independently with very little adult support and have shown excellent creativity. Pets have been popular again this week. The children have been taking our cats and doges for walks on leads, inside and out and we have spoken about being a good pet owner, and what our pets need and don't need. We have been speaking about what animals/pets we have at home and maybe we could have a visit from some of these lovely pets we've been hearing about. On Thursday afternoon we went to visit our newly cleared garden area. The grass has just been mowed. What can we do? We began to create animals, Rosie the Spider, Turbo the Snail, Hermoine the Hermit Crab, Sammy the Snake and very creative grass insects. We've had lots of fun "Monkeying" around. Our logs that we normally sit on had been moved, so we decided to move them back. We had a rolling competition. Very strong arms and muscles guys. Well done. We had some musical instruments donated. Oh my word - we have some great musicians amongst us. There was lots of fund had with the guitar and keyboard - both creating very different sounds!!! Outside we had sunshine and showers. There was lots of interest in the balancing items outside, over and over getting better every time and faster! Good co-ordination and a big finish with a big jump at the end - Well done. We also planted a strawberry plan outside and will be watching to see if any grow. |
