We are still continuing to practice our Makaton signs for Thank You, Please, Fruits and the Children's own names. Ask them to show you at home.
For Yoga this week we had The Hungry Caterpillar - Oh a very hungry caterpillar who ate cake, chocolate, pasta, crisps, fruit, sandwiches but still very hungry. What else can I have? Some melon? Now I have tummy ache, better go to bed and read a book. Just one more leaf. That's better, now I need to rest and wrap myself in a cocoon. A long sleep, first one wing, then another, a beautiful butterfly. Lots of creative shapes and ideas and floaty butterflies all flying around the room. For some children it was time to say god bye to Nicki our Yoga teacher and Thank You. We did more practicing for our Sports Day. Some very competitive characters and future Olympians. We made lots of medals for our Sports Day - it was like we had our very own medal factory. Well done everyone. We had a great last day which started with lots of party games and dancing inside. We then got into our teams and headed outside for our sports. We had lots of fun races including parents tunnel ball and piggy back races. We finished with a picnic and said our good byes. Wishing our older children a very happy time at their school.

We are still continuing to practice the Makaton signs for Thank You, Hello and the Children's names.
Monday saw us all get together at Avon Valley. Some of us went by mini bus and others met us there. The weather was kind and the sun stayed with us until later on but by then we had discovered the indoor play area and the death slide. All aboard for the train ride and the tractor ride. Some cute animals, oh hang on - let's not forget lunch! A good but tiring day for all. On Tuesday we had a trip to Stanton Drew cricket field to join Stanton Drew Primary School on their sports day. Lots of fun was had by watching the older children doing their events. Then pre-school children managed a race near the end which was a running race. Well done to all who took part. We then had a lovely picnic lunch. On Wednesday we shared our Little Red Riding Hood story to parents and carers. Although we had some nerves, the children joined in the songs and the story with prompts from adults. In the afternoon, we had more practice for our own sports day. We had lots of fun cheering on our team mates. On Thursday we walked to our Outdoor Area and we made a giant butterfly from natural resources. We talked about symmetry and then finished the afternoon off with a few of our favourite games. For yoga this week we had the story of Edward the Knight and the Dragon. Edward had to save the villagers who the dragon had locked up. They challenged the dragon to a fight, but Edward tricked the dragon by getting him to climb into a cage and the dragon was locked away forever. The children learned lots of new poses to go with the story, Brave Knight, Dragon, Fire, Magic Sword and Tall Golden Tower - what fun!
The children have been loving the outdoors this week due to the lovely weather we had. There was lots of water play, pouring and estimating big bottles, small bottles "will the water in this one fill this one?" Great sharing and helping each other too. Also, the hosepipe has been very entertaining! The babies have been well looked after this week. They've had baths and have been dressed in their finest clothes as they were off to the mini disco, followed by a bed time story as they were all exhausted from all the dancing. On Wednesday afternoon we had the sing up CD. The children loved this as it is very familiar with them. We practiced sports day games which involved working as a team and encouraging our friends. |
