Weekly Makaton Signs: Hello, Thank you and Good.

What a beautiful start to the week, lovely sunshine and lots of painting, sand play and tunnels.  Hide and seek, chasing games, oh so much going on outside.  Enjoying the sunshine safely.  Helping the children to understand about the benefits of sun cream and sun hats, as the rays from the sun can be harmful, but by putting on sunscreen, we can still appreciate the benefits from the sun such as vitamin D and a rosie glow to our skin, but without the harm.

Painting, mixing the paints together and seeing what other colours are created, sharing of the paints and waiting for our friends to finish with a colour, so we can then use it.  So much narrative, discussing what they are painting, what colours they need, looking at each others to see what they are creating, getting ideas from one another, who the painting is for, where the paintings will be put at home.  WOW all this from painting and then there is their wonderful piece of art too, to share at home.  Fantastic!

Then the rain came, but never mind we are on the bus and we are off to Africa, see the lions, tigers, snakes, but as they said quiet on the bus or the driver might crash.  Some thought they were off to London to see the Queen.

Lots of dressing up Princes, Princesses, superheroes, Some really good and having a go at doing it themselves so they don't have to wait for an adult to help and then they can get on with the more important things of playing.  Yeah!!

Weekly Makaton Signs: Hello, Good and Thank you

Yoga - Goldilocks and the Three Bears - Stretching as tall as trees and as wide as houses.  Understanding size - teeny, tiny, big chair, bed and bowl of porridge.  Remembering what the bears say, well done everyone great job!

Fish, chips and peas game.  This is a running game with fish down one end, chips up the other and little tiny peas in the middle.  You have to remember which end you are and which end you need to be at, or should it be in the middle.  Sometimes it is said where you have to be and sometimes you need to look at which card is being held up.  Keep listening and watching, but careful as sometimes tricks are played, you may already be at the right place and don't always copy the others, as they may have it wrong.  Do what you believe is right!

Grass, freshly mown grass, smell it, touch it, watch it fall from your hands, gather it up, spread it out, but wait what's that hidden in amongst, its numbers! which one have you found, how many can you find? can you hide them again?

Obstacle course outside, getting some practice in for our sports day.  Balancing, getting dressed up in a coat, how far can you jump, throw that welly.

Weekly Makaton signs: Hello, Thank you and Good

Yeah the sun is out, but now we need to remember our sun hats and sun cream to protect us from those harmful rays in order that we may go out and enjoy ourselves with out getting burnt.

Paintings galore on a large and small scale and water too, splashing around, floating boats and some sinking-? Oh no boats don't float when carrying too much water.  A sheet was put up for everyone to have a go at creating their own piece of art work on the sheet.

Lambs wool collected from little lambs to create our own pictures.  Lots of sticking and feeling what its like.

Weekly Makaton signs: Hello, Thank you and good

Sunshine, showers, snow - whatever next, but as long as we are dressed for anything, we can handle anything that comes our way.  So much building work going on.  Building repairing, demolishing, climbing up high and hiding down low.  Setting traps in the Shed so the dinosaurs cannot get us.  Using the crates like steps to climb up onto the shelf.  So much team work, collaboration of ideas, trying out things that work and when they don't, what else can we try?

Despite the weather; picnics outside with the babies, as long as they are wrapped up warm.  Very caring and gentle handling of the babies and understanding of needing to feed, change and cuddle the babies.

Playdough always of keen interest and good for fine motor skills.  So many different things created.  Biscuits, cakes, a diamond ring, strawberries, hedgehogs, wiggly worms, so much imagination, watching what others do and having a go themselves.

Yoga - Goldilocks and the 3 bears.  Recalling the story, stretching, curling, running through the woods and the tall trees and at the end what moves can you remember from what we have just done.

Goldilocks and the three bears, the story out with the props, so the children can use these to tell the story themselves with out the need for the book and pictures.
