We are still continuing to learn Hello, Good and Thank you in Makaton signs.
For Yoga this week we had a firework party. We used materials as fireworks and we made some lovely soup. We've been creating a Frozen stage outside using crates and bricks. Lots of teamwork and helping each other lifting and moving things around. Then for the cabaret – singing Frozen “Let it Go” and then singing the rhyme “Monkeys Jumping on the Bed”. Finally making up their own rhymes with mermaids swimming in the sea and banging their knee!!! Some good imagination, lovely singing and every good balancing whilst singing and moving around on the narrow stage. On Thursday afternoon we walked to the outdoor area remembering our Golden Rules to stay safe. We explored the bottom area – taking care of brambles and low branches. We made bird feeders from cheerios and hung them on the tree. We even decorated a small xmas tree with things that birds can eat – we made tinself from cheerios and string – what fun.

We are still continuing to learn Hello Thank you and Good in Makaton signs. Get your child to show you these at home.
For Yoga this week we had the 3 Little Pigs. Our moves were house, build, roof, making ourselves thin and narrow to get down the chimney. Ask your child to show you their moves. There has been lots of splashing in puddles. How big a splash can you make – let's jump! The climbing frame became the bridge and the blue mats were the water. “Who is that trip, trapping under my bridge?” Oh No, careful – here comes the big, bad troll and he is very hungry!!!!!! We have been practising the story of the 3 Little pigs – using props and a sequence of pictures which tell the story. The children learn the story from the pictures in the correct order and from the signs that we use. The children have been having fun with their singing, making up their own songs. Such wonderful voices. The children are also enjoying a stage outside to perform beautiful singing and dancing. They were also doing some lovely expressive dance moves. Great confidence building. We've been on the bus outside too (lots of chairs) to lovely places, Santa Land, Dinasaur Land, Blue Park, Pink Park, the Beach and the Cinema. The children have excellent imaginations and have had brilliant imaginative play with lots of expressive language. On Thursday afternoon we made a bird feeder at preschool using cereals. There was lots of thinking about how to keep the cereal in and how we could hang it in a tree. We then walked to our outdoor area remember the Golden Rules. We went exploring and noticed that we couldn't hear the sticks snapping under our feet anymore and worked out it was because it had been raining. We are still continuing to learn Good, Hello and Thank You in Makaton signs.
We had lots of interest in building sites and making houses. There was some great team work amongst the children - they helped each other load bricks onto the truck. We practiced our physical skills on an obstacle course and each part had a different number on it and this helped us to recognise numbers. We have been learning our storymaking version of 3 Little Piges. This is where we tell the story using actions rather than look at the book – what fun! On Thursday afternoon we walked to our outdoor area and talked about our Golden Rules which keep us safe. We then explored the area at the bottom, listenting to the snapping of sticks as we walked. We had lots of discussion about testing the ground to see if it was safe and watching out for brambles and low branches. We finished with a game of 1,2 3 Where are you before heading back to preschool. |
