For Yoga this week we continued with Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Ask your child to show you this very familiar story with their well performed actions.
We had some parents join us on Tuesday for our Chinese banquet where we shared our Chinese Zodiac story and sang Happy New Year in Chinese. We then all tried a variety of Chinese food with lots of attempts at using chopsticks. Thank you to all those who sent in food and joined us to celebrate. Outside the open end resources have been very popular and we have had some great creations, children independently and as a team making sports cars. On Thursday afternoon we walked to the outdoor area, there was lots of teamwork whilst exploring the bottom area and looking for sticks to add to our den. We found lots of snowdrops and daffodils growing and looked at the buds on the trees. We made pictures using mole hills, sticks and our fingers!!! We finished with our stuck in the mud game.

We are still continuing to learning Thank You, Good and Please in Makaton signs. Ask your child if they can show you the sings for Good and ever further still, Good, Morning, Everyone - come on children – we know you can.
For Yoga we had Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The stage is calling for some of our younger ones, who are so enthusiastic when retelling the story with the props. Some of you may notice that your child's name card for drinks no longer has a picture on it. The children have been spending time learning to recognise their own names, in readiness for school. Please encourage your child to find their name at this time. More practise has been had in writing their names. We have some laminated name cards for each child that indicates where to start learning to write the letters in their names. On Thursday afternoon we walked to the outdoor area and we continued with building our den. We had lots of team work finding sticks to build it and make it bigger and bigger. We played a game of “Whats the time Mr Wolf” with lots of good counting and getting closer and closer to Mr Wolf. We then headed back to preschool but stopped at the orchard to do some £mole hill” stamping in the squidgy mud. The children have shown a keen interest in talking about home and their families, so we have decided to make a display board of “Our Families”. We are asking everyone to bring us a photo of your child and their family and maybe a family tradition you may celebrate (Birthdays, Christmas, Holi, Christenings etc). The children really enjoy talking about home and its a great way for us all to recognise that all families are different and a good way for all children to value this from a young age. We are still continuing to learn Good, Thank You and Please in Makaton signs.
We are still continuing with Goldilocks and the Three Bears for our Yoga session. In this way the children get a real sense of knowing the story and joining in with the words and actions. We've had the open end resources out, children using their own ideas and imagination. Collaborating their ideas with each other. What is it going to be? How can we achieve it? Let's work together. What's going to work? Team Work! Thursday afternoon we went down to our outside area. The children showed Lisa all around, as Lisa does not normally attend on a Thursday afternoon. They took Lisa down to their tunnel but unfortunately could not go through it today as she would of needed to swim as it was too wet. We all then went on a hunt for large sticks as we are creating a den area. We finished off with games “1,2 3 Where Are You” and “What's the Time Mr Wolf” - then back to preschool. We have had the props out for “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”. The children have enjoyed re-telling the story to each other, without the use of a book. Lot's of good budding actions in our midst. |
