We are still having fun learning our Makaton signs for Thank You, Hello, Good and the Hello Song.
We are also still learning Handa's Surprise in Yoga. We have been practising the moves and signs for our story making. Lots of fantastic animal moves and sounds. Ask your child if they can show you. Puppets, it's only a Puppet!!! Everyone has been getting involved using the puppets to create stories. Lots of sports day practice, doing an obstacle course, an egg & spoon race and our favourite welly wanging. On Thursday we walked to our outdoor area and enjoyed the lovely sunshine. We continued with our rope swing and extended our den to make more room for our friends. We built a fairy house from grass and flowers and spoke about encouraging the fairies to come and visit us. How will we know when they have been? Sparkly things hanging around? Ooh can't wait to keep a look out.

Yoga – we are still practising “Handa's Surprise” - There was lots of good animal actions and yoga moves. Ask your child what fruit the mischievous monkey takes. There has also been lots of singing songs relating to Handa – the “Animal Fair” is very popular. Ask your child what the elephant does ALCHOO!!!!!
We've been making dens outside which got bigger and bigger as more things were added to them and more children got involved with their ideas of what to use and how to use it. Good team was shown with plenty of sharing. Our Golden Rule this week was all about understanding why we need to put toys back. We need to do this so we know where to find it again on another day, so they don't get lost, or get broken by being somewhere they shouldn't and getting stepped on. Or so we do not trip over them and get hurt and also, so if we have finished with it, someone else knows where to get it to play with it and that they now know that it is a free to play with. So many reasons why it is good to tidy up. Thursday Forest Club – Den building. We found things to cover the sticks so that our den had less holes in it and it was more of a secret den. Kelly couldn't see our den as we had all done such a good job of camouflaging it. We created a swing again which needed team work to get it up together. The grass was so long we had to see who could pull up the longest piece. One child found a really long one - it was nearly as tall as her! Before lunch we had a lovely story about the “Alien Tea Party” - after we had our own Alien picnic!! We had Carmen in all week on work experience. Thank you for Carmen for coming in to play, the children have enjoyed playing with someone new. We are continuing our Handas Surprise Story in Yoga with lots of animal actions and learning new fruits.
On Tuesday we went to Stanton Drew School's Sports Day. It was very windy so we made a tent from our tarp to keep us warm. There was lots of cheering for all of our friends at school. Lots of us took part in the preschool race and we all earnt a lovely sticker. We then enjoyed a lovely picnic before heading back to preschool. We are continuing to practice for our own sports day and this week we practiced some wellie wanging with some children showing some great throwing skills. On Thursday at Forest Club, we went to our Outdoor Area and recapped on our Golden Rules to keep us safe. We made a rope swing on a tree with lots of team work and sharing. We learnt about the electric fence and not to touch it as it will give us a nasty shock. We had a lovely picnic in the shade and then we had a story before heading back to preschool. Our weekly Makaton signs are still Hello, Good, Thank you, and the Hello Song.
For Yoga this week we had Handa's Surprise. There was lots of animals and different fruits involved. We are currently learning the Makaton sings for the animals and once the children are familiar with these, we will then add the signs in the for the fruits. This will be extended to add songs and at the end of term we would like to share these with yourselves. More information will follow nearer the time. There has been lots of den building happening this week – finding things to use – working out what works, what doesn't. How can we make things work. Teamwork! We have been helping one another to create the perfect den to hide in. We've had some changes this week. Starting earlier and finishing later for a couple of days, although some of us did forget! Also on Thursday we started our Forest School in the morning. We had a fantastic morning playing games 1, 2, 3 Where Are You? What's The Time Mr Wolf? Finding out that mud can be moulded like play dough, especially if you add some water to it. We made a mud lady on the tree, which we all added our own bit to. We even had lunch there! We did work out though that now there is more of us, we need more logs to sit on. We went on a treasure hunt, finding “gold” flowers, large leaves, little leaves, pink flowers, clover – can anyone find a four leaf one? The sun has started to shine and now is the time to think about and remember sun hats and sun cream to keep us all safe. Thank you. Playdough is back – finally Lisa has got the recipe right again – it was atmospheric pressure making it go runny – honest!!!! |
