We thought parents might like to know that our preschool has won the RHS Alan Titchmarsh Award for school gardening. We have won £250 in vouchers, we will take the children to the garden centre to spend these very shortly.

We are into another fun week at our preschool.
Last week, we continued the theme of The Three Little Pigs story. The children continued to make the houses out of a number of resouces to reinact the story. The children loved doing the role play and lots of laughter could be heard. The children also enjoyed lots of messy play by using lots of paints and doing conker rolling. We hope to continue this theme with a conker hunt next week. Each week we concentrate on one of our 'Golden Rules'. Last week we were helping the children with the rule 'Being Kind to others'. The children were rewarded with stickers when they showed they understood this rule. Next week we aim to do the rule 'Carefull Walking'. After the children's apple hunt last week they made various crumbles with the apples, raspberries and blackberries which they had found on the hunt - yummy! Welcome back everyone to the new term, and a very warm welcome to our new starters.
Last week we used the story of The Three Little Pigs to inspire our activities. The children made houses out of boxes, using different materials just like the pigs - straw, sticks and bricks. We talked about construction as we did this, so the children were learning about strong building materials. We also re-enacted the story. For our sensory/messy play, we've been rolling marbles in paint and using bubbly water to wash down everything outdoors. We've also been weeding our garden, ready for the autumn and winter months. The children have enjoyed helping unpack our new toys, and looking at the instructions. Amongst other items, we've got a new scooter and some new play food. For our Thursday outdoor play session, we went for a walk to pick some apples and blackberries. (We'll be doing some cooking with these this week.) We also dug up some potatoes, which the children really enjoyed. |
