We had lots of fun on our last week of term. The children and staff were very excited and talked lots about their holidays to come.
Our sports day and picnic had lots of children, and adults, laughing and showing great team work. After sports day we sat down to enjoy a lovely picnic - which was well deserved.

For Yoga we are still practicing 'Handa's Surprise'. We have learnt lots of exciting moves. Ask your children which animals take which fruit?
On Tuesday we had our trip to Chew Valley Farm. We enjoyed seeing lots of animals together, the wallabies, deer, goats, chickens, geese and the curly pigs!! We finished with a lovely picnic together and a play in the play park. We've been making some medals for our Sports Day on Thursday 16th July. There are some which are sparkly and some with numbers on and some with shapes. Sports day practice involved the long jump – all jumping and marking each other where they landed. Also we practised our obstacle course race. Everyone showed good balancing and throwing skills. What fun. On Thursday for our Forest School we went to our outdoor area. We spoke about keeping ourselves safe then some of us made a swing. Some of us also saw butterflies and made butterflies with scissors and paper and decorated them with grass and flowers. Some of us went to the den and then we played our 123 where are you game. We then read a story and had a lovely picnic together. Golden Rules – Listening ears – the importance of our listening ears. We need to listen to each other when we are having a conversation and wait our turn to talk or interrupt. We need to listen as we may be being told something to keep us safe, like when we are crossing the road. There have been many visits by the older children to their new schools. Lots of chat happening being told about the things they have done at their schools, like drawing pictures, talking about their new teachers and meeting their buddies – how exciting. We are still continuing to learn Thank You, Good, Hello and the Hello Song.
For Yoga we are doing Handa's Surprise. Ask the children to show you their “surprise” faces. There was lot's of good actions and story telling and remembering the sequence of events and which animals took which fruits. The older children who will soon be leaving us, have been involved in drawing some pictures for their new teachers to be passed on. We have been talking about our Golden Rules and why we need to have them. They are all about staying safe and having a good time. This week we have been looking at why we need listening ears. It could be that we are being told something to keep us safe, or that we need to listen for cars when we are trying to cross the road, or so we know what we are supposed to be doing now or next and just to listen when someone is talking to us. Finally, if we can hear other people talking then we need to wait until they are finished before interrupting them, unless of course, it is important enough to interrupt. We have been reminding the children the importance of staying safe during the hot weather, such as wearing a hat and sun lotion and the importance of drinking plenty and if we get too hot to either go inside or in the shade to cool off for a bit. Thursday we went to our outside area – we were on a hunt for more sticks to extend our den. It was raining and there was not enough room for everyone it was a squash and a squeeze. So we said we needed it bigger. We found some more big sticks to extend it. We all worked together. Time for songs and a story and then we needed to build a shelter so we could have our lunch out of the pitter patter rain drops. |
