The children started the week off with a trip to the local garden centre where they purchased various items for their garden.
The children also had a treasure hunt in the garden where different items were hidden and they had to find them. Glitter was put in water and the children were facinated with it. The staff and children had fun playing "Hear the sound" where they had to guess the instrument used. Yoga was very popular this week and the children enjoy the stories which went along with the yoga. Making bread rolls was a great success with the children. They enjoyed squeezing and beating the dough mixture. he bread rolls tasted yummy once they were baked. A tasting session was also held where the children tried tasting sweet and sour foods. Some foods went down better than others. We went on a Pumpkin hunt at the local allotment for our afternnon outdoor session. The children were discovering the difference in heavy and light by holding various sizes of pumpkins.

Last week the children enjoyed the 'Pirate' theme. They were busy making boats to sit in, along with big sails. They even tried their hand at making paper boats to see if they would float or sink on water.
We also continued the 'Autumn' theme and the children enjoyed rolling their conkers in the play dough and making lots of fun shapes. The staff even hid some conkers in the garden and the children thought it was great as they kept finding them. The children enjoyed getting the glue out and making cobb pictures by using the corn from the corn on the cobs and sticking them on to various pieces of paper and cardboard. Outside the children had their trampoline and were busy making lots of dens. Inside the children were facinated with the new pet toys and loved playing vets. For our Thursday afternoon outing, the children walked to the stone circles. At the circles the Pre-school Leader got stuck and the children had to use their problem solving skills to help get her down! We are still continuing our Three Little Pigs theme. This time the children were retelling the story to the staff.
The children made the most of this lovely weather and had their Yoga session outside. We also carried on with our Autumn theme and the children went on a Treasure Hunt to find conkers and to look at all the different colour leaves. And finally, our budding chefs had the cooking lady come in where they made Blackberry and Apple muffins. They also made some yummy raspberry smoothies with the staff. Healthy and scrummy! |
