We are still learning Hello, Good Girl and Good Boy in Makaton signs. Ask your child to show you at home.
For yoga this week the animals went in 2 by 2. It was a repeat on last week, but it is good to revisit moves as the children are all familiar with them. We have some great little movers - so well done everyone. We have been doing lots of paining of rainbows and sunny skies. Oh no - look what happened to my colour - its changed??? The children have been having lots of fun seeing what happens to different colours when you mix them together. We've had lots of story telling in the quiet corner. We've been looking through an electronic book - matching the page number to the number button which speaks and tells the story. Our Space display has been added to this week. The children have really enjoyed listening to each others interests and helping each other create a lovely Space display on our board. Please take a look. We've had lots of interest in numbers this week. The children have been counting and recognising some numbers. Some children were even ordering numbers up to 10 - well done. There has been plenty of building this week. How tall can we get it - Oh no, taller than you. How can we reach it? Stretch, stretch, stretch - still not tall enough. Let's look around to see what we could do. Good idea - let's stand carefully on top of the box, I'm taller! Now I can reach - uh oh it's all fallen down. How tall can we make it this time? Higher and higher we go. Let's count how many blocks we use. For Thursday afternoon we went to our outdoor area and were looking forward to a hot chocolate after playing the games What's the Time Mr Wolf, 1,2,3 Where Are You and Simon Says. Lynne and Manda lit the fire in the Kelly Kettle to warm the water, but unfortunately, after several attempts, we couldn't keep the fire burning. We will try again and make sure we have lots of dry wood next time. The children were very understanding and sat around to see us light the cotton wool and listened carefully about staying safe around fire.

What fun we had this week playing with the space toys/small world. The children spent a great deal of time talking about planets, aliens and where they would like to visit if they went in a rocket. Great imaginations!
We are still learning the Makaton signs for Hello, Good Girl and Good Boy. The children are doing these very well. Before we started our Yoga we played the very popular "Fish, Chips and Peas" game. For Yoga this week we did Noah's Ark. The animals were going 2 by 2. What animal can you be? A dog, cat, owl, lion or even an elephant. How can we get there? By train, plane, tractor, no - let's build a boat. There was lots of good ideas. We had lots of bubbly warm water in bowls and the children enjoyed seeing how many bubbles they could make. The dinosaurs ended up having a jolly good bubble bath - we think they enjoyed it! Oh no - but some dinosaurs are sinking and some of the dinosaurs are floating. We wonder why that is??? Could some be heavier than others? Outside we had fun with an obstacle course. We did lots of jumping, stepping, balancing, over, under, landing, launching - over and over again. Well done everyone for putting lots of effort in - good work. On Thursday afternoon we walked to our outdoor area. It was very wet weather but the children thoroughly enjoyed splashing in the puddles. We made shelters and played "What's the Time Mr Wolf". New year, new term and a new start for some - welcome and welcome back. Everyone seems to have had a visit from Santa and everyone had a really good time.
We have been learning the Makaton signs for Hello, Good Girl and Good Boy. The description of how to do these can be found on the screen divider. There is also a leaflet available. We will continue to use these signs until everyone is familiar with them. For Yoga this week we have been doing the Three Little Pigs and that big old mean wolf - although they did all learn to become friends at the end and shared the stew! We have been creating lots of new and familiar moves. There were lots of sweet wrappers around - not sure who ate them all! They helped to make decorations, face masks and stained glass window decorations. We've had lots of new and exciting things to see for Show and Tell - thanks Santa. Some children really enjoyed experimenting with the paint and mixing up new colours. They enjoyed watching and predicting which colours would make what colour when mixed. Lots of cooking has been happening with the play dough. The children have been making some great recipes and creations and some even wrote shopping lists before going shopping to buy the ingredients to make their play dough. Fabulous role playing. We have also had lots of fun making hobby horses this week. The children all had their own sticks from the garden area then a choice of sock. They stuffed it with newspaper and attached it to the stick - we made some sweet faces for them. The children then spent a long time rolep laying as a group and having lots of fun on them. |
