Welcome back everyone to the new term, and a very warm welcome to our new starters.
Last week we used the story of The Three Little Pigs to inspire our activities. The children made houses out of boxes, using different materials just like the pigs - straw, sticks and bricks. We talked about construction as we did this, so the children were learning about strong building materials. We also re-enacted the story. For our sensory/messy play, we've been rolling marbles in paint and using bubbly water to wash down everything outdoors. We've also been weeding our garden, ready for the autumn and winter months. The children have enjoyed helping unpack our new toys, and looking at the instructions. Amongst other items, we've got a new scooter and some new play food. For our Thursday outdoor play session, we went for a walk to pick some apples and blackberries. (We'll be doing some cooking with these this week.) We also dug up some potatoes, which the children really enjoyed.
