Welcome back everyone and a big welcome to our new starter. Thank you to everyone for helping us show her around and making her feel so welcome.
We are still continuing to learn Hello, Thank you, Good Morning Song and Good in Makaton signs. Has your child been practising at home? For Yoga this week we did Little Rabbit Foo Foo. This new story introduces different moves. Riding your bike – slow up the hill, then weeeeeee down the hill. We also have the props out to encourage the children to retell the story themselves. There has been lots of tales about where the children have been and what they got up to over the break and the pancakes they had with all the different fillings and toppings – chocolate, peanut butter and syrup – yum yum! We are introducing the festival of Holi. This will be talked about more next week, but we have been drawing around the children in readiness for next week. Holi is a celebration when lots of colours of print are thrown over one another, so we thought we would join in and throw it over drawings of ourselves. Outside we have been travelling to different places, we tried to go to Mars but the spaceship wouldn't work so we got on an aeroplane to Africa instead. We saw lots of different animals, like Elephants, giraffes and lions. The monkeys took our bananas and then we were chased by crocodiles so we flew home. Some children then flew to princess land and some got on a train to Santa's Den. Lots of great imagination. We've had lots of Show N Tell this week. Show N Tell is very good for children learning to wait their turn. It is also good for listening and for thinking about goal questions to ask their friends about their special item. What it is that they want to know? Also, it is a good opportunity for thinking about how to answer the questions that have been asked. A good group activity where lots of information is learned. On Thursday afternoon we walked to the Outdoor Area – the 4 Shetland ponies were missing, where can they be? There they are – hiding in the stables. We walked through our forest area, very squelchy underfoot, helping each other over and under through the mud. We went on a worm hunt, digging for worms in the mole hills – only found baby ones. We then finished with a game of Mr Wolf. What fun.
